Exhibition: a conservation friendly planing process

» Development of guidelines

» Environmental monitoring

» Condition reporting

» Assessment to save materials and display cases

» Transport and handling

The display process itself and the auxiliary processes involved, may be detrimental to preservation, since they may expose the objects to a less controlled environment and thus to a higher level of light, dust, pollution, risk of pest infestation, structural and mechanical stress due to movement, vibration, and environmental changes. Reducing the extent to which the exhibition facilities cause these physical hazards to the collection is a key goal of the exhibition design process.
